Pune Metro Route Map 2024:- Pune Metro is an extensive urban Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) being developed in Pune, Maharashtra, by Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha-Metro) and the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA). The Phase 1 project, spanning 31.254 km, includes two metro lines and 29 stations. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for this phase was initially prepared by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation in July 2009 and was updated several times, with the final revision in November 2015 to account for current pricing.

Despite state government approval in 2012, the project faced delays due to bureaucratic hurdles, political opposition, and concerns from local NGOs and activists, particularly regarding its elevated structure. The project received final approval from the Union Government on December 7, 2016. On March 6, 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated commercial operations on two sections of Phase 1. Additionally, PMRDA is working on a third line, which will connect Hinjewadi to Civil Court. This line is being developed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, with TRIL Urban Transport Private Limited (a Tata Group company) and Siemens Project Ventures GmbH (a Siemens Financial Services subsidiary) leading the execution.

History Of Pune Metro

The Pune Metro project has a transformative history rooted in the city’s rapid urban growth and increasing transportation demands. The concept for a metro system in Pune was first proposed in the early 2000s to address the escalating traffic congestion and provide a modern, efficient means of public transport. The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) initially began planning in 2006, with feasibility studies and project reports conducted over the subsequent years. Pune Metro Timings

The Pune Metro operates daily with a comprehensive schedule spanning 16 hours. Service begins at 6:00 AM and continues until 10:00 PM, accommodating both early risers and those enjoying Pune’s nightlife. The metro’s frequency is designed to efficiently manage commuter traffic. During peak hours, from 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM, trains arrive every 15 minutes. This frequent service reduces wait times and alleviates congestion during the busiest periods.

Outside of peak hours, from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, trains run every 10 minutes. This schedule supports midday and early evening commuters, making the Pune Metro a convenient option throughout the day.
